Move over San Sebastián, Lima and Lisbon …
Taste Stellenbosch is a month-long celebration that confirms what locals already know: Stellenbosch is one of THE hottest culinary destinations in the world.
And this spring, close to 40 participating restaurants, wine farm eateries, coffee shops and cafés will prove why – with mouth-watering tasting menus, chef’s tables, and scrumptious seasonal offers that put the spotlight on our region’s world-class chefs, exceptional wines, and deep-rooted food culture that consistently earns local and international acclaim.
You can find a full list of participating restaurants here. It’s a delicious mix of fine dining destinations, award-winning restaurants (DUSK, Post & Pepper, Spek & Bone, The Jordan Restaurant, Eike and VUUR, to name a few), casual eateries and cafés, and perfect food and wine pairings that remind you why Stellenbosch does this better than anywhere else.
Here are delectable tastes of what to expect:
- The Jordan Restaurant with Marthinus Ferreira is dishing up a steak lunch special every Wednesday and Thursday in September – enjoy a 250g sirloin with Café de Paris butter, accompanied by hand-cut fries, a fresh chef’s salad, and a glass of the exquisite Jordan The Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon 2019.
- This September, De Vier Restaurant invites you to savour the bold, comforting flavours of their handcrafted curries – each one a hearty hug in a bowl. And to elevate the experience, enjoy a complimentary glass of Vilafonté Seriously Old Dirt with your meal.
- Each Friday in September, make your way to De Warenmarkt between 4.30pm and 6pm for bottomless bubbles and a selection of snacks (three per person) for R295 each – the best way to kick-off your weekend! Alternatively, join their month-long celebration of the waterblommetjie – a regional delicacy – by sampling their Tempura Waterblommetjies, Waterblommetjie & Sorrel Soup or Lamb Knuckle & Waterblommetjie Bredie.
- Savour the flavours of Stellenbosch with this amazing offer at Guardian Peak – a two-course meal for two, paired with a bottle of Guardian Peak wine for just R600.
- Enjoy a curated, seasonal menu at Rykaarts, served family-style for the table to share, featuring delicious dishes made using ingredients from the biodynamic farm and the surrounding areas.
- Honouring all things braai, chef Shaun Scrooby of VUUR is dishing up a five-course dinner on Friday and Saturday during the month of September.
